Healthcare Information Technology Trends

Healthcare is an essential industry that requires continuous growth through technology to cure rare diseases. Technology in healthcare provides insight into human anatomy and creates space for patients and healthcare providers to cure previously stubborn illnesses (Tsymbal, 2022). However, progress, which promises a healthier and better future, faces challenges like climate change, rising costs, and inequities. This essay describes two healthcare technology tendencies, potential risks or challenges, and one possible benefit and risk connected to safety, patient care, and legislation.

Some of the technology trends I observed in healthcare organizations recently include artificial intelligence and data prediction and integration. AI in healthcare is crucial for assessing patient data, developing modern medication, and improving diagnosis (Tsymbal, 2022). An example of such technology is the CT scan. Integrating information and making predictive analyses enable the extraction of patients’ situations. The technology incorporates AI machines like robots to integrate information and predict analysis, offering insight into a patient’s condition.

One possible risk associated with such technologies is that their presence may replace healthcare workers from their jobs. They gather and predict information faster than doctors hence preferred by patients (Brault & Duchemann, 2021). Nevertheless, research shows that AI’s chances of replacing people in their jobs are minimal if correctly used. They should offer suggestions for drugs and medication routines depending on a patient’s medical records, symptoms, and history (Tsymbal, 2022). After thoroughly analyzing the robots, healthcare workers should use the data gathered to minimize costs, improve outcomes and accelerate job contentment.

As a benefit, AI in healthcare has the potential to automate administrative roles such as per-authorizing policy, record maintenance, and keeping track of unpaid bills. AI may also reduce the workload for healthcare personnel, saving institutions money. However, AI may pose risks to healthcare, such as errors and harm. It may present inequalities and increase bias (Brault & Duchemann, 2021). Regarding data safety, AI may increase the chances of hacking, leading to privacy breaches.

Telehealth is the most promising healthcare technology as it provides endless benefits. It enables nurses to attend to patients in rural locations. Institutions affected by nurse shortages can use the technology to minimize patient visits, costs, and executives. Telehealth will generate improved patient care since it improves accessibility to a patient’s data and records for the nurse (Hood, 2021). The technology reduces the workload for the nurse hence minimizing errors.

An example is an automated IV pump giving patients dosages and medications under a schedule, relieving the nurse in charge. Through technology, there is an increase in communication by utilizing team collaboration, headsets, and messaging applications hence quicker communication (Hood, 2021). Healthcare personnel gets to develop easier coordination, especially when dealing with patients from new shifts and departments.

In conclusion, new technologies promise to make a nurse’s work manageable. They create growth in the healthcare field through positive evolution. These technologies enable healthcare institutions to manage patients efficiently and effectively. Advancements such as AI, data integration, and prediction have changed the medical landscape with challenges and benefits. They are quick compared to healthcare personnel but may also cause havoc by creating a loophole for hacking. The most promising healthcare technology is telehealth, which favors the institution, patient, and providers. Through telehealth, healthcare institutions manage the volume of patients by only allowing visits where necessary and attending to others from their homes.

QUESTION

HEALTHCARE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TRENDS

Post a brief description of general healthcare technology trends, particularly related to data/information you have observed in use in your healthcare organization or nursing practice. Describe any potential challenges or risks that may be inherent in the technologies associated with these trends you described. Then, describe at least one potential benefit and one potential risk associated with data safety, legislation, and patient care for the technologies you described. Next, explain which healthcare technology trends you believe are most promising for impacting healthcare technology in nursing practice and explain why. Describe whether this promise will contribute to improvements in patient care outcomes, efficiencies, or data management. Be specific and provide examples.
