Answer
Poor communication and lack of collaboration are the leading cause of medical errors and patient harm. It is reported that medical errors are among the top 10 leading causes of death in the US, ranking number 5 ahead of accidents, gunshot wounds, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, accidents, and Alzheimer’s disease (Weiss and Tilin, 2018).
Recent research indicates that increased collaborations are key at increasing patient and employee safety and reducing mortality rates in healthcare facilities (Karam et al., 2018).
Similarly, the absence of mentorship programs is attributed to be among the leading causes of job dissatisfaction and change of careers. The impact of this is the reduced number of care professionals, which compromises the quality of care delivery (Manzi et al., 2017).
Mastery of communication skills is essential for establishing successful collaboration, and in return, medical errors get prevented. As a result, patient safety is achieved, and the quality of care is improved with ultimate patient satisfaction.
By training the employees on proper ways to communicate, the triple aims in health shall be attained. Furthermore, the inclusion of a mentorship program will help them practice and deliver feedback to their mentors.
In the long run, everyone will be able to speak up easily, teamwork will be the driving force of success, and each employee will grow careerwise, with the inclusion of patient satisfaction..

The change generally targets all employees, from leaders to subordinate staff. However, the existing care professionals like nurses, clinicians, and physicians, among others, are extensively targeted due to their direct involvement in patient care.
The training will involve three key aspects: Communication skills, teamwork, and mentorship.
The training will be done weekly where hired professionals will teach employees techniques of engagement in challenging conversations, Use of the cognitive framework in addressing incivility, Utilisation of DESC model (and others) in structuring conversations, the habit of nurturing civil and collaborative cultures, choosing mentors and providing feedback, deliberate practice and mastery of communication skills, career development.
The organization will also organize a monthly mentorship program where each individual will be assigned to a junior employee in a similar field. This program will serve the purpose of enhancing skills, practice, and mastery and receiving feedback from them.
Lastly, the organization will enhance teamwork by rewarding best performing teams semiannually with fully sponsored conferences or seminars to help them learn new techniques (for career growth) and network, thus get external mentors.
