ANSWER
Discussion of Spiritual Beliefs and Nursing Care in Week Seven
1. The Impact of My Spiritual Views on the Care I Offer
My spiritual views as a nurse influence the care I give by highlighting empathy, compassion, and the value of each patient’s uniqueness. I believe that all people are intrinsically important and should be treated with decency, respect, and holistic care that takes into account their emotional, spiritual, and physical health. Treating patients as complete beings while taking into consideration their cultural and spiritual requirements is guided by my belief in interconnection. For instance, I actively listen to patients who express spiritual sorrow or anxiety about their disease and, when appropriate, refer them to resources or chaplaincy programs that support their beliefs.
I am also reminded by my spiritual views of the value of awareness and presence in caregiving. I make an effort to have meaningful conversations even during hectic shifts because I know that small deeds of kindness can have a big influence on patients. This viewpoint encourages me to support patients in finding comfort and purpose during trying times, accept their choices, and promote culturally sensitive care plans.
2. What Makes Me Feel Like I Have a Purpose and Meaning
Being able to positively impact people’s lives on a personal and professional level gives me meaning and purpose. In nursing, this frequently entails assisting families in making tough decisions, watching patients heal, or just offering consolation when things are unclear. It gives me a great sense of fulfillment to know that what I do improves someone’s health or well-being.
Relationships with family, friends, and my community give me personal meaning. My faith gives me a sense of optimism and fortitude, and my relationships serve as a reminder of the importance of love and support. All of these facets of my life work together to keep me rooted in and dedicated to the principles of compassion and service that direct my work as a nurse.
