Stakeholders Agencies in CQI
Continuous Quality Improvement is an approach in healthcare provision that ensures medical services are effective. All stakeholders in the healthcare system influence the effectiveness of CQI both positively and negatively. The paper analyzes ways pharmaceutical and insurance companies-external stakeholders influence CQI.
Pharmaceutical companies play an essential role in patient outcomes. Pharmacies are responsible for providing a variety of drugs and other therapeutic agents used in surgeries and other medical procedures. The medications used by patients increase life expectancy and prevents mortality (Sommers, Gawande, and Baicker 2017). Eradication of medical error is one of the aims of continuous Quality Improvement. Drug manufacturing companies provide information on how to use specific drugs and the use of every medication dispensed, thereby preventing medical error. Pharmaceutical companies also support scientific research in Medicine and veterinary fields. The stakeholders, however, could negatively influence CQI. Pharmaceutical companies are responsible for the rising cases of painkiller and other forms of drug addiction.
Insurance companies provide limitless benefits to both the covered patient and the hospital. Health insurance provides financial protection to its clients during a catastrophic event (Seal, Jackson, Brooks, Harris, Haskell and Ransom 2016). Some medical treatments and therapies, such as cancer treatment, can be very costly. Medical covers come in to offer financial assistance to the patient. Healthcare insurance usually does not cover supplementary drugs and other services; however, the companies help negotiate these services on behalf of the patient.
The continuous Quality Improvement approach provides a sustainable solution to medical problems in the country. Health insurance and companies aid in the patient outcome process by providing financial assistance to their clients. On the other hand, the pharmacy sector ensures patients get the right form of medication through the manufacture and distribution of drugs.
