The process of resolving an outbreak in an area requires a skillful and procedural intervention in establishing the cause of the outbreak and how to handle the outbreak. In the CDC game, The Village of Gold, the outbreak was being caused by high levels of lead contamination. The procedure started by jetting into the country to help in alleviating the urgent need for outbreak control which is a humanitarian crisis. On reaching the area, Nigeria, a consultation was done with the locals to allow and assist the process of conducting tests and other epidemiological processes. According to CDC (2020), creating a rapport with the local communities ensures that there are cooperation and no hindrance in carrying out the epidemiological research and care.

In establishing the key cause of the deaths, a quick blood test was conducted. This is an important stage of confirming the diagnosis. The diagnostics’ confirmation helps a team effectively connect the symptoms and the causal organisms or agents. After a blood test among the sick children, lead poisoning was established as the main cause of death for children living in the villages. Cafasso (2018) confirms that blood tests are the most effective for lead poisoning. In alleviating the cause, the team and I came up with a program of removing the top layer of the soil whose dust has high lead levels. According to Cafasso (2018), lead poisoning can be reduced by removing or sealing the sources. There are no perfectly effective methods of reducing lead levels in the environmental sources, but the numerous interventions contribute to reduced levels. In a study by Dignam (2019), the levels of lead poisoning in the United States have reduced by 93.6 percent from 1976 to 2016, which has highly been achieved by controlling the lead sources.
