Practice of Nursing Research

As nurses, our goal should always be to provide the best possible care for our patients. To provide the highest quality care available, we have to stay on top of all information that is available to us. Healthcare is always changing and there are always new and better ways to do things. The best way to keep up with all of these new treatments and regimens is through evidence based practice. Evidence based practice is defined as “the conscientious integration of best research evidence with clinical experience and patient values and needs in the delivery of quality, cost-effective health care (Gray, 2017).”NURS 6010 Practice of Nursing Research

At the hospital that I work at, we use evidence based practice quite often. We use many protocols to treat our patients, and these protocols are constantly evolving as more information becomes available. We have a stroke protocol, sepsis protocol, STEMI protocol, and many more. By using these protocols, we have standard orders and actions that are taken to treat patients when they come in with these diseases. As I said already we use evidence based practice to tweak these protocols quite frequently. As new information becomes available, some of these standard orders and actions are changed to make sure that the patients receive the best care possible.NURS 6010 Practice of Nursing Research
