Name of painting: The Last Supper
Name of Artist: Leonardo da Vinci
The Last Supper is one of the most intriguing and recognized artworks by Leonardo’s da Vinci masterpiece. The painting was painted on the reflective Santa Maria Delle Brazie reflector wall in 1495-1498. The artwork is classified under the Italian High Renaissance movement of painters. The painter- Leonardo da Vinci was believed to be deeply connected with science and nature. He remains known for his intelligent artwork globally as it depicts a combination of intellect and imagination. Additionally, Da Vinci is celebrated for forming the Renaissance (“Introduction,” 2019)

Stylistic Influences
Leonardo Da Vinci changed his pictorial painting style of the Last Supper artwork after highlighting various aspects of the picture such as the characterization and foreshortening, atmospheric perspective, lighting, anatomy, and linear perspective. However, he later assimilated his artwork into oil painting after discovering that oil painting gave him the freedom to shows some lightening effects on the painting as well as portraying light (Tencati, 2018).
Historical Influence
The Last Supper artwork, due to its revolution on the Western artwork has been famously known as the symbol of Western art. The history of the painting is recognized globally as one of Leonardo’s paintings that could be remembered for the longest time. The last supper is categorized under the painting category which highlights religious aspects. The subject of the Last Supper painting has shown and brought out the effectiveness of human emotions.
How did your research enhance your appreciation of the artwork?
My appreciation of the artwork has been enhanced by the research in the way that the painter brings out a picture that causes you to critically think and show empathy. Leonardo’s artwork has made me appreciate and recognize the significance of artwork by how the painting stresses on the notion of universal love.
How does understanding the context of a work help in interpreting it?
Leonardo uses one point of perspective simultaneously that helps in emphasizing and focusing on Christ as the central position. It helps me to be able to interpret the artwork due to his focus point as well as understanding the painter’s quest for originality
