ANSWER
1. Choosing an Article
One quantitative research article that addresses your PICOT question should be chosen.
Make sure the publication is a primary study rather than a meta-analysis or systematic review.
For relevance, concentrate on research that has been published within the last five years.
Examples of databases include your university library, CINAHL, and PubMed.
2. Completing the Matrix of Literature Reviews
Complete the following important information for the chosen article using the template that is provided:
A. Reference
Provide the article’s complete APA citation.
B. Purpose Give a brief explanation of the goal or research topic that the essay aims to answer.
For instance: “To evaluate the effect of nurse-led education on medication adherence in hypertensive patients.”
C. Research Design Describe the type of study (e.g., cross-sectional survey, cohort study, randomized controlled trial).
D. Illustration
Give a description of the study population’s demographics (e.g., age, gender, setting) and sample size.
E. Variables
The variable that is altered or categorized (such as the kind of intervention) is known as an independent variable (IV).
The outcome being measured, such as medication adherence rates, is known as the dependent variable (DV).
F. Instruments of Measurement
Indicate the instruments or techniques (such as surveys, lab testing, or validated scales) that were utilized to obtain the data.
G. Results: List the main conclusions. To bolster your summary, use quantitative data (such as means, p-values, and statistical significance).
H. Advantages and Disadvantages
Emphasize the study’s noteworthy advantages (such as its strong methodology) and disadvantages (such as its small sample size and possible biases).
I. PICOT Relevance Describe how the study supports and relates to your PICOT query.
3. Sending in
Make a copy of your finished Literature Review Matrix.
By the deadline, turn it in through the Assignment folder in your course.
A Completed Matrix Example Citation for Entry: Doe, A. L., & Smith, J. R. (2022). A randomized controlled experiment was conducted to examine the impact of telemedicine on diabetes management. 123–130 in Journal of Nursing Research, 50(3). This link: https://doi.org/10.xxx
The goal is to determine whether telemedicine consultations, as opposed to traditional in-person visits, help patients with Type 2 diabetes achieve better glucose control.
Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) is the research design.
200 persons with Type 2 diabetes who are between the ages of 30 and 65 make up the sample. 50% male, hospital environment in the city.
Variable IV: Consultation method (in-person vs. telemedicine).
DV: 6-month HbA1c values.
Measurement tools include baseline and 6-month HbA1c tests.
Findings: The HbA1c of patients in the telemedicine group was significantly lower (-1.2%) than that of the in-person group (-0.5%, p = 0.03).
Advantages and disadvantages:
Strengths: Randomized design, large sample size.
Short follow-up duration and single-site study are its weaknesses.
Pertinence to PICOT:
corresponds with the PICOT approach, which emphasizes telemedicine as a means of enhancing the results of chronic illnesses.

QUESTION
Quantitative Article/Literature Review Matrix
Instructions
For Part 2, which is due Sunday of Week 8, you will find ten articles that pertain to your PICOT question and provide the requested information for each article on the Literature Review Matrix, which will be added to your proposal. as an appendix. If this doesn’t make sense yet, it will. Part 2 is not due until Module/Week 8. This assignment prepares you for and may get you started on the Literature Review Matrix, which is an appendix for Part 2.
This week’s assignment is to find one quantitative article that pertains to your PICOT question and fill out #1 on the Literature Review Matrix, which is located in Content/Course Resources for NSG 502 Only/Assignment Templates. This can be one of your ten articles for the research proposal, although it not a requirement. But the article must be a review of a single quantitative study. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are not acceptable.
The Literature Review Matrix is provided in “Course Resources for NSG 502 only/Assignment Templates” area. There is also a sample for both a quantitative and a qualitative research article. Qualitative research will be studied in the next module.
The required template can be found in “Course Resources for NSG 502 only” module. A sample Literature Review Matrix is also provided.
You may submit as many times as is needed, up to the due date. The last submission made up to the due date is the one that will be graded.
Please do not copy and paste your document into “Comments”. It is not necessary and actually causes issues for the instructor.
