Research Question and Type of Study
How can the community leaders assist in decreasing cases of teenage smoking? A case-control study will be undertaken to address the problem of adolescent smoking (IQWiG, 2016). This type of study will be essential in comparing teenagers who smoke to those that do not. The study will be more suited since the teenagers fall within the same age group. The community leaders may request the medical files for smokers and non-smokers and evaluate them to find potential health risks.

A Study to Reduce the Incidence of Smoking in Teenagers
The case-control study will involve community leaders who will risk health records of a sample size of 20 teenagers. Among the twenty, ten should be smokers, and the rest should be non-smokers. On analyzing the health records, the community leaders will have risk factors linked to smokers. Again, the community leaders will then create awareness to smokers and non-smokers on individual health risk factors. Furthermore, the community leader will help the smokers set a smoking quitting plan, motivate them and support them to throughout the process.
Difference between high-, low-, and middle-range theories, my understanding of middle range theories, A research study in which middle range theory was applied, Discuss results and implications
Middle-range theories are classified into three classes: high middle-level theries, middle-middle-level ideas, and low middle-range approaches. High middle-level views are linked to extensive and moderately abstract concepts such as caring, transcendence, adaptation, and culture (“Nursing theory,” 2021). Conversely, middle-middle range theories are associated with theoretically defined and moderately fixed constructs such as uncertainty in illnesses. The low, middle-range approaches are highly confined and specific and address issues such as acute pain management. In my understanding, middle-range theories aim to explain, describe and predict phenomena in healthcare practice. Middle-range theories of uncertainty have been used in case studies, such as managing chronic uncertainties to develop meaning from illnesses. The theories have helped patients’ reassessment of uncertainty from stress and anxiety situations to understand the individual disease. The theory implies that enhancing understanding of chronic uncertainty improves a patient’s quality of life.

Question

Question 1) Within your community, there has been a large increase in teenage smoking, and community leaders are developing a plan to decrease the incidence of smoking. To help them, you will:

A) Develop a research question to address the problem.
B) Determine what kind of study should be undertaken.
C) Design a study to decrease the incidence of smoking in teenagers.

Question 2) What is the difference between high-, middle-, and low-range theories? Explain your understanding of a middle-range nursing theory. Identify a research study in which a middle-range theory was applied. Discuss the study results and implications for practice.
