Walden university aligns with my long term and short-term goals as a nurse practitioner. As such, I have always desired to be an advanced practice registered nurse who can freely examine patients by diagnosing their conditions and prescribing treatments. I aspire to have full responsibility for the patients. Though many states require working under physician supervision, I would like to exercise my practice based upon the integrity of my practice and to be trusted as such. Owing to the nature of my training and work, I would like to function as more than a busy physician’s assistant and work hand in hand with doctors to achieve the same goal: patients’ wellness.
Walden University offers a unique setting as it understands my ambition of being an innovator and self stater and acknowledging plans for my future. From its mission statement, Walden University seeks to impart knowledge by understanding my dreams and equipping me with the necessary tools to combat challenges in the real nursing arena (Walden University: Accredited Online University | Online Degree Programs, n.d.). As a professional, experienced nursing practitioner, this gives me the confidence to make it in my career. Walden University meets my career ambitions by enabling my voice to be heard and enabling me, through confidence, to shape the nursing practice that I desire. I desire to offer clinical leadership for patient care services and delivery, which comprises designing, coordinating, and evaluating the care of individuals, families, and populations of people. Walden University achieves this desire by offering me a platform to nature my leadership capabilities through group tasks that engage different kinds of personalities in achieving a specific goal. As a nurse practitioner, I strive to identify the health outcomes of patients and collect them. With my professors and colleagues’ help in practice, I can learn firsthand the patient evaluation techniques available and how significant each reading is.

This is also achieved by transforming knowledge acquired to knowledge in practice by performing practicums facilitated by the institution. As a nurse leader, I aspire to advocate for patients, environments, and communities at large. Walden University has empowered me in this capacity by writing various health promotion reports and practicing as such. By seeking to broaden my perspectives, my institution has frequently enabled me to partner up with various professionals all over the country in a quest to understand our research and development capabilities. My goal of designing and implementing evidence-based practices can be achieved by raising critical issues at stake for healthy individuals and communities. By undertaking countless group assignments with colleagues, I have learned the basics of team leadership, management, and collaboration with healthcare professionals. Through evidence-based assignments and practicals offered by Walden University, I can learn the basics of information management or the use of information systems and technology to improve health care outcomes.
The American Association of nurse practitioners is one significant group in attaining nurses’ welfare and will be useful in making me feel welcome as a nurse practitioner. I aspire to be among the diverse community of career professionals who have the chance to transform themselves as practitioners who are scholars in enhancing positive social change. This great institution has facilitated my lifelong dream of making the lives of my patients better by applying evidence-based medicine and nursing techniques that consider all the aspects of his/her well-being.

Question
In this module, you begin laying the foundation for your academic and professional success. Your efforts begin with a vision that includes your own definition of success. Your vision may vary from those of your colleagues, but this does not mean you have to take these first steps alone.

Walden University and the College of Nursing also have a vision and mission, which include helping you to make your own vision a reality. Members of your new academic community, such as faculty, support teams, and fellow students, can also be helpful. Current practitioners and other member of the professional community can also help you to clarify your vision.

This Module’s Discussion asks you to consider how the Walden mission and vision as well as the College of Nursing’s mission and vision apply to your professional and academic goals. You will also begin to identify individuals and teams who can help you along the way as you begin designing the “blueprint”—your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan—that will guide you toward your own vision for academic and professional success.
