ANSWER
Reflection: Using the Knowledge Gained in the Course to Improve Future Practice
As I go from being an intensive care unit nurse to a family nurse practitioner (FNP), this course has given me insightful knowledge and useful skills that I will use throughout my career. The significance of evidence-based practice (EBP) in enhancing patient outcomes is among the most important lessons learned. In order to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care, I intend to critically assess clinical guidelines, research findings, and patient-specific aspects in the future.
Another important lesson learned was the importance of cultural competency. I will work with patients from a variety of socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds as a FNP. In order to give care that respects each patient’s values and beliefs, this workshop reaffirmed the importance of approaching care with compassion and an open mind. I also learned how to include cultural assessments into my practice.
Interprofessional collaboration was another important aspect. In order to meet complicated patient demands and guarantee continuity of care, healthcare providers must effectively collaborate. Working with multidisciplinary teams to handle acute and chronic illnesses will need me to use communication tactics and tools like SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation).
Finally, the emphasis on prevention and health promotion will influence how I provide care in the future. To enable patients to actively participate in their own health, I will place a high priority on providing information and counseling on lifestyle modifications, including quitting smoking, proper diet, and mental health.
