Hospital Comparison
Hospital comparison provides information on how the facilities provide patient satisfaction. The information enables patients to identify the best hospital with the best services. This paper will compare Baylor University Medical Centre and Methodist Dallas Medical Centre.
Patient survey rating provides essential information on patient care. Communication between patients and their medical providers improve patient care and save on medical costs (Popescu, Fingar, Cutler, Guo and Jiang 2019). 80% of Baylor University Medical Centre patients and 81% from Methodist Dallas Medical Centre reported that the nurses and doctors communicated effectively. The figures for both hospitals are higher compared to the national average. This indicates that the hospitals are doing well in terms of patient care.
Timely care is essential in all medical services. High timely care saves on costs and helps reduce the mortality rates and numbers (Ki, Han, Son and Park 2019). The number of patients who received appropriate care for severe sepsis and septic shock is higher in Baylor University Medical Centre than Methodist Dallas Medical Centre. In Methodist Dallas Medical Centre, the percentage is 59%, while in Baylor University Medical Centre, the ratio is at 77%. The low percentage rates of Methodist Dallas Medical Centre results from inefficient patient care outcomes.
Complications in hospitals is a significant issue in the provision of patient care. Unsafe medical procedures lead to medical complications and the overall poor health of the patient (Popescu, Fingar, Cutler, Guo and Jiang 2019). The complication rates in knee surgery procedures at Baylor University are higher than Methodist Dallas Medical Centre. Complications arising from surgical procedures are costly and reduce the quality of the patients’ health.
In conclusion, hospital comparison helps patients and other health stakeholders like the government decide on the best hospital to visit. The discussed statistics play a role in patient care and outcome. High positive ratings from patients motivate doctors and nurses to continue with the excellent work, while low ratings demoralize the medical practitioners’ efforts.
