Evidence-Based Practice Overview
Introduction
Evidence-based practice (EBP) means making care decisions based on the best clinical data that is available. Newhouse and Spring (2010) say that EBP means picking interventions based on scientific evidence to make sure that patients get the best care. EBP has helped improve the quality of health care and make it safer for patients (Stevens, 2013). Even though EBP is important for providing care, it has been hard to use it in nursing practice. To make sure that EBP is used more in nursing care, realistic and useful structures must be put in place. As a result, this paper looks into how nurses can use EBP to improve care delivery.

Expansion of EBP
Nurses play an important role in healthcare delivery. This means that nurses need to use best practices to make sure that care for patients is coordinated (Newhouse & Spring, 2010). EBP includes a variety of evidence types that should be used to improve its applicability. Stevens (2013) says that strategies should be used to create a work environment that encourages the use of EBP to improve care delivery. Among the strategies are figuring out what gets in the way of EBP, putting current clinical practices to the test, and fixing what people think they know about EBP’s goals and processes.
