Evaluation of Workplace Civility and Reflection

ANSWER

Evaluation of Workplace Civility and Reflection
Findings from the Evaluation of the Work Environment
The Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory score of 75, which denotes a “Moderately Healthy” work environment, was obtained when the evaluation was finished. This finding implies that although my workplace excels at encouraging teamwork and upholding a generally positive culture, there are some significant areas that need to be improved in order to create a more polite and healthy atmosphere.

For instance:

Strengths: The goal and vision are well-defined, and many coworkers treat one another with respect in their day-to-day interactions.
Opportunities for Development: Employee annoyance results from irregular communication between management and employees as well as sporadic failures to resolve disputes amicably.
Workplace Civility
My workplace is rated as moderately polite based on the assessment. Even while there are cases of productive contacts and teamwork, rudeness can occasionally jeopardize peace at work. This includes actions that can cause friction among employees, such as contemptuous demeanors at meetings, unresolved disputes, and sporadic partiality. Even while the leadership has tried to solve these problems, they haven’t been totally successful in creating a consistently polite atmosphere.

Experience with Impoliteness
A colleague publicly and condescendingly critiqued another team member’s work during a team meeting, which was one instance of incivility I encountered. This caused discomfort among the other members of the team in addition to embarrassing the targeted individual. The supervisor failed to handle the situation immediately, allowing the behavior to go unchecked.

How It Was Handled: Following the meeting, I and a few other team members voiced our concerns to the manager on the occurrence. The manager responded by setting up a follow-up meeting with the group to stress the value of polite communication. Furthermore, the coworker who acted rudely received private counseling. The necessity for proactive steps to avoid such problems, like frequent training on workplace etiquette and dispute resolution, was brought to light by this intervention, even though it worked to reduce stress in the short term.

Concluding remarks and suggestions
Even though my workplace has many good qualities, the evaluation and reflection point out areas that need improvement, especially in the areas of proactive conflict resolution and continuous enforcement of civility. Workplace wellness can be further enhanced by putting policies in place like frequent courses on polite communication and anonymous feedback mechanisms for reporting rudeness. Fostering a really healthy and encouraging work environment requires that leadership set an example of civil behavior and deal with rudeness quickly.
