Evidence Based-Practice
Since its introduction, Evidence-based practice has positively impacted the health of patients and the social care of nurses. EBP is central in the provision of health care and how nurses make a decision and approach their work. Nurses need to focus their minds on the use of appropriate evidence; therefore, evidence-based practice is a cookbook approach in medicine.
The integration of evidence, knowledge, and skills into clinical practice ensures that patients receive the best health care. The approach helps nurses to make appropriate, effective decisions in their work (Butler, Hall and Copnell 2016). By adopting the approach, nurses stay updated on new and improved medical procedures for patient care. Improved medical advancement enables healthcare workers to increase the chances of recovery and survival of patients. EBP provides the means to explore the effective alternative practice, and address underperformances of the services nurses offer.
According to research, EBP enables nurses to solve problems in the clinical setting (Camargo, Iwamoto, Galvão, Pereira, Andrade, and Masso 2018). The approach enables nurses to evaluate the research to understand the risks of particular diagnostic tests or treatments. Consumerism among patients can pose a major challenge to nurses in hospitals. Some patients prefer to make their decision about diagnosis and treatment based on the internet. According to scientists, almost 70% of the diagnosis and treatments are inaccurate. Evidence-based research enables nurses to advise the patients to allow medical practitioners to attend to them. Patients are encouraged to express their opinions and participate in decision making that is responsive to them or their families. Nurses also allow patients to express their list of concerns and prevent issues from occurring.
