Discussion 1
I consider the choice of the issue of interest relevant to the working environment mentioned. Nurses encounter cases with life and death consequences, which can be physically and emotionally draining(Unggul Widodo et al., 2019). Nurses provide medical care to patients and emotional support to patients and families with fear, anxiety, and grief. Consequently, working for long hours yet having to deal with personal issues can be emotionally exhausting. In nursing, stress is inevitable. With this distress and physical burnout, one is likely to make medical mistakes, so it is essential to manage it.
The PICO(T) question is framed well with the subject, the issue, and the outcome brought out clearly. The choice of databases used: MEDLINE and CINAHL make the search strategy valid and effective. Specifically, adding the Boolean operator and combining the keywords resulted in satisfactory results, as it retrieved articles specific to the subject matter. I find it wise to use research articles from a particular time frame. Choosing the latest research articles is more effective as one gets up to date information and findings(CHIEN, 2019). The search’s approach to coming up with the four articles from MEDLINE and 20 from CINAHL was the best.
However, you could improve the database search through the use of wild imagination. You could brainstorm for other words that are related to the subject area. For example, work stress among nurses can be categorized differently in the databases, yet relevant in the search. Before narrowing down the search, you could use multiple databases to get numerous results. The same phrase typed in a different database could give different views that might be better.
Discussion 2
The PICOT question is intriguing concerning the medical errors caused by medical practitioners. Barcode technology has been recognized in the medical sector as an effective way of administering a patient’s medication (Strudwick et al., 2018). It is useful in confirming the right drugs, the correct dosage, and the right timing. The barcodes wristbands help change workflow, as the nurse scans the patient’s wristband to make sure they are giving the right medication to the right patient. The use of barcodes has impacted patient care as it has reduced administration by 50%.
The use of Research by Subject made the search method more effective. It narrowed down the search using ORmade the search more specific as Boolean picked out the key phrases to generate particular articles. This method is more satisfactory rather than typing a whole sentence in search. I found the search limited as it involves the onset of search results. For better results, one should search in multiple databases, considering the databases covering several subjects and those subject-specialized (Guides: Nursing Research Guide: Database Searching Tips, 2020). With this, you can get different results that help in narrowing down to the most relevant article.
Moreover, you could improve the search by approaching it like a detective. Some of the prominent people or organizations talk about medical errors that can be avoided. Following their articles can result in findings that are relevant and up to date. You could use wild imagination to brainstorm other words relatable to the subject until you exhaust all the possibilities. For effectiveness, you could generate a list of terms relevant to the search and their synonyms and combine them with Boolean tools.

Question
issue of interest fashion was my guide to discover the best course of action that creates the best results (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2018) to formulate my PICO(T) question. I based my research on situation, searching for any possible study that can bring some insight into t patterns of behaviors and correct any patterns to aid me in this journey of a full-time working mom, per-diem nurse in the laboratory and online grade nurse student. The PICO(T) question is as follows: (P) nurses (I) that use coping mechanisms and practice stress management (O) have lower levels of burnout (C) compared to nurses who do not use these tools. During my journey as a grade stud.
Two of the most popular databases were used for this search, MEDLINE and CINAHL Plus. My initial search was using “nursing burnout,” which rendered 373 and 487 articles, respectively. By adding the Boolean operator (Library of Congress, n.d.) and adding specific words in the AND space “stress management,” I retrieved more articles specific to the matter regarding my PICO(T) question to 7 and 31 articles, respectively.
My search effectiveness increased by using the proper search filters (Budram et al., 2018) and prove to find articles more attuned to my PICOT question. In the advance search option, I reduced the time frame for articles between 2010 to 2020. This action increased the specificity of my search, thus affecting the rigor and effectiveness. By doing so, the articles obtained were 4 for MEDLINE and 20 for CINAHL Plus.
