Aspects of Global Health Issues
Introduction
According to the study, global health is the greatest disaster in the current world. The study shows that the new skills brought by science and medicine have failed to attain the mass of the global population. Even though the world’s health has gotten a lot better in the last 100 years, these changes have not lived up to everyone’s expectations. The reason behind this is the different living standards in different countries. People think that the biggest risk to current and future health disasters tends to come from social factors that are known to hurt people’s health, such as poverty, living in dangerous conditions, and bad environments. Global health disorders are caused by, among other things, ineffective healthcare systems, global deaths, and disparities in healthcare personnel. (Schnurr, et al, 398)
Hunger is one of the most alarming health problems in the world, and it has slowed many countries down a lot. Haiti, my birth country, is one of the countries affected by global health issues. Haiti is believed to be one country that has never enjoyed freedom since a long time ago. Many may wonder why there is so much hunger in the country; the reason for it is the poverty that has dominated the country. The poverty in Haiti is exceptional due to poor governance, education, and continued earthquakes. (Shah) Lack of support in the agricultural sector has also contributed a lot to the continuing hunger in the country, as Fao Director-General Jacques Diouf says. “He adds that the economic and social reconstruction of the country needs the restoration of food production and massive investment in rural areas.” (Jere, 1752) For this reason, you will find almost everybody in Haiti is affected either direct or indirect
Research shows that for nearly the entire 21st century, hunger is the leading risk to health worldwide. In contrast to Haiti, the World Health Organization reported that hunger kills more people than cancer, heart disease, AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. It is also estimated that one in every four children is underweight. Due to the underweight, that child is likely to die from infectious diseases due to a weak immune system. One of the American researchers said that “the hungry are the poorest of the poor, and improvements in poverty don’t always reach them,” which is what has happened in Haiti. The impact of hunger can bring about poverty, malnutrition, and HIV/AIDS, among many more.
