Introduction
It is always imperative for nurses to become nurse practitioners to develop professional goals that they would want to achieve in their career path. Nurses have the obligation of ensuring that they provide their patients with excellent nursing care. Academic success and professional experience provide registered nurses with an opportunity to attain their professional goals (Fritz, 2018).
I have identified and secured the following academic and professional teams’ participation to form the basis of my network. This network will help me clarify my vision for success and help guide me now and in the future.

NETWORK MEMBER 4
Name: American Psychiatric Nurses Association
Title: APNA
Organization: American Psychiatric Nurses Association
Academic or Professional: Professional
Why I selected this individual and team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse:
As the American Psychiatric Nurses Association strives at the placement of more psychiatric nurses on various commissions and mental facilities’ boards of governance (Bindon, 2017). This organization was my network choice as it will enable me to advance in my psychiatric nursing career and education. It will further help me in my nursing career by briefing me on new medical trends and new career opportunities. It also establishes strong relationships among members and employees. The reference checks will make ease psychiatric nursing placements (Best et al., 2018).
Professional Development Goals
Since I am a registered nurse in the transition to become a nurse practitioner, my professional development goals align with my career (Bindon, 2017). The increase in the use of technology in the health care industry has led me to have a professional development goal of increasing my technological skills competency due to the rapid technological changes such as Electronic Health Records (Best et al., 2018).
As a transition nurse, my other professional development goal is to continue with my education and engage in research, as this will help improve my delivery of care. I concur with Price & Reichert that collaborating and communicating with other health care practitioners in the health care organization often leads to the delivery of exceptional care (Best et al., 2018). Therefore, My other professional development goal is to ensure that I develop excellent interpersonal skills.
I am also looking to become an expert in various nursing roles, such as administering medications, assessing patients’ pain levels, and recording patient data. These mastery levels will ensure that I can provide excellent nursing services to the patients, which is part of my professional development goal (Nowell et al., 2017).
Link Between Professional Development Goals and Walden’s Emphasis on Social Change
Walden University is known for its urge to ensuring that it provides positive social change to the community. Walden’s annual Global Days of Services offers the Walden community an opportunity to bring social change to society(Fritz, 2018). This is often through undertaking practices that will improve the lives and living standards of the organization. The University calls for its members to donate their time, resources, and expertise to the community, especially marginalized individuals (Best et al., 2018).
I look forward to delving into a social change where patients’ information will be safe from hackers and other unauthorized individuals. Therefore, one of my professional development goals is to increase my technological skills competency. Additionally, l will align my professional development goal by advancing education, which will equip me with the knowledge and skills to help solve the various health issues that impact society, such as diabetes, which is in line with the University’s emphasis on social change.
I will also align my professional development goal of becoming an expert in the various nursing roles that I conduct with the University’s emphasis on social change (Kavanagh & Szweda, 2017). I will undertake this by engaging in voluntary activities in the community, creating awareness of how the community will govern itself from various diseases, and improve their health standards (Bindon, 2017).
Conclusion
As a registered nurse in the transition to becoming a nurse practitioner, I have set insight into my professional development goals. My professional development goals will ensure that I provide patients with adequate, reliable, quality, safe, and timely medical care. I look forward to completing my studies to pursue my career.
